For this map, I started by drawing a couple of top down view sketches to figure out where the rooms would be, how they would be connected and where would be the high and low risk areas. While doing this, I took into account all the character classes available in the game.

 

Once I got a good feel of what the map would be like, I started designing the rooms using Adobe Illustrator. Then, I built a blockout version in Hammer.  After some playtesting, I made a few adjustments to the map to improve the gameplay.

 

Finally, I completed the map with props, textures and lighting.
